Soon to be gone - Natural ResourcesOil - only 35 years! This is the best estimate at this point in time. We are very close to the point where new oil wells brought on line will not be able to keep up with the increasing demand for oil. New oil wells are getting fewer in most parts of the world except Iraq, which because of political turmoil over the past 50 years, still has most of its reserves untapped. This 35 year estimate does take into account these reserves being brought on line. North America is rapidly being replaced as the number one consumer of oil by both China and India. Given that our entire economy depends on oil (look what happened with OPEC in the 70s and the impact of high oil prices is having on us now), we had better find an alternative and reduce our dependency on oil. The world's energy demands are doubling every 10 years with China's increasing 9% in 2005. http://dailynews.muzi.com/ll/english/1356864.shtml http://www.greencarcongress.com/china/
